This is my second master study. I scanned in the picture and did the lines in illustrator. Then in photoshop I colored it and overlayed a texture. There isn't a texture in the original but it needed something.
i played with line variations the day I watched the lecture. And When I went to do this I was planning on doing it again but couldn't remember how so I need to go back and watch the video again.
I guess it would help if the lectures were shorter. Or maybe if I did a written summary. We'll see. But definitely if you have a tablet go with the blob brush if you don't then figure out the art brush using custom brushes that you make from stretched shapes with various tapers.

I agree, the texture is definitely a good thing to add. Have you experimented much with variable width lines in Illustrator with the Blob Brush?
